Your Skin Has Been Fighting All Summer. Let's Help It Recover.

SKIN 180°  •  JULY JOURNAL

Between the UV index, the monsoon humidity, and the pool days, Scottsdale summers ask a lot of your skin. Here's how to repair the damage and put the hydration back.

80% OF VISIBLE SKIN AGING IS CAUSED BY CUMULATIVE UV EXPOSURE

30% MORE WATER YOUR SKIN CAN LOSE TO EVAPORATION ON A 110° DAY

The Arizona Trade-Off

We get almost 300 days of sunshine a year here, and it's part of why we love living in the Valley. But that same sun is quietly writing itself into your skin all season long — as pigment, as fine texture changes, as that dry, tight feeling that no amount of moisturizer seems to fix on its own.

Add in monsoon humidity swings, chlorine from pool days, and air conditioning drying out indoor air, and by the time August rolls around, most of my clients are dealing with some combination of sun-triggered pigment, dehydration, and a compromised skin barrier — even if they've been diligent about SPF.

What I'm seeing in the treatment room this month: a lot of early sun spots on the cheeks and hairline, dull or "tired" looking skin from dehydration, and increased sensitivity from sun exposure layered on top of retinol or exfoliating routines. If that sounds familiar, this month's treatments are built for exactly that.

The good news: none of this is permanent. Sun damage and dehydration both respond really well to the right treatment, and this is actually one of the best times of year to address them — before the damage has all winter to set in.

"Summer skin doesn't need more product. It needs repair — pulling out the pigment the sun laid down, and putting back the water the heat pulled out."

This Month's Recovery Treatments

Three ways we're helping clients repair and rehydrate this summer

PIGMENT & BRIGHTNESS

Skin180° Brightening Peel

Our signature peel targets exactly the kind of sun-triggered pigment that shows up this time of year — surface discoloration, uneven tone, and that "tired" cast summer skin gets. It gently resurfaces the top layer of skin to reveal brighter, more even-toned skin underneath, with minimal downtime so you're not hiding indoors for a week.

REDNESS & VASCULAR REPAIR

ADVATx

Sun exposure and heat both aggravate visible vessels and redness — something we see a lot more of in July and August. ADVATx precisely targets these vascular and pigment concerns with minimal impact on surrounding tissue, making it an ideal option for calming summer-triggered redness and diffuse discoloration.

DEEP HYDRATION

HydraFacial

This is the treatment I recommend most in summer. It cleanses, gently exfoliates, and extracts, then infuses the skin with hydrating serums and antioxidants — replacing exactly what heat and sun pull out. Clients often say it's the fastest way to get that "my skin is drinking water again" feeling back.

FEED YOUR GLOW

Green Gazpacho

A chilled, no-cook soup built around hydrating cucumber and avocado — the inside-out companion to a summer hydration facial.

INGREDIENTS (SERVES 4)

  • 2 large cucumbers, peeled and chopped Hydration + silica for elasticity

  • 1 ripe avocado Healthy fats for barrier support

  • 1 cup baby spinach Vitamin A for cell turnover

  • 1/2 cup fresh parsley Antioxidants + vitamin C

  • 1/4 cup fresh basil

  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped Vitamin C for collagen synthesis

  • 1 clove garlic

  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil Anti-inflammatory omega-9s

  • Juice of 1 lime

  • 1 cup cold water, plus more to thin

  • Sea salt, to taste Replenishes electrolytes

METHOD

  1. Add the cucumbers, avocado, spinach, parsley, basil, bell pepper, and garlic to a blender.

  2. Pour in the olive oil, lime juice, and cold water, then blend until completely smooth.

  3. Season with sea salt and thin with additional water to reach your preferred consistency.

  4. Chill for at least 1 hour before serving — ideally right after a summer HydraFacial for an inside-out hydration reset.
